Available year-round and free with your museum admission, the Discovery Centre is a prehistoric space for young children featuring giant, pollen-popping flowers that kids can feed with foam balls. Sound effects, whisper tubes, and specialized lighting make the Discovery Centre the perfect place for youngsters to explore, play, and learn in an interactive environment. |

| Badlands Trail Self-Guided Tour |

Available year-round and free with your admission, you set the pace when you walk the trails of Midland Provincial Park. Explore the badlands on your own along a special interpretive path near the Royal Tyrrell Museum. Remember, the Museum is located in a provincial park, so please stay on the trails and help us preserve the area for future generations. |

| Prospect for fossils and investigate real dinosaur remains in the Badlands. This 90-minute journey through the heart of dinosaur country will inform and inspire as you learn about the creatures and landscapes of ancient Alberta. Space is limited so register early. What to bring: Good walking shoes are required. Water bottles, hats, sunscreen, insect repellant, and clothing suitable for the weather are recommended. In case of rain, the program will be cancelled and the Virtual Hike will be offered as an alternative. |

Experience the thrill of excavation on this ultra-realistic dinosaur dig. As a member of the excavation team working in the badlands, you will use the real tools and techniques of a palaeontologist. With museum science educators as your guides, you will uncover casts of dinosaur bones, map the quarry, make a field jacket, and learn how to read the stories within the fossils. Space is limited so register early. What to bring: Good walking shoes are required. Water bottles, hats, sunscreen, insect repellant, and clothing suitable for the weather are recommended. In case of rain, an indoor version of this program will be delivered. |

| Fossil Casting |

Have you ever wanted to make a fossil cast to keep as your very own? In this 45-minute indoor program, you can. Using a mould, dental plaster, and water, create an amazing replica of an ancient fossil, complete with details on the fossil’s age and where it was found. Space is limited so register early. |

| Summer Camp |
||
| It’s a dinosaur adventure that lets kids imagine they’re palaeontologists. They’ll love creating their own cast of a dinosaur, hiking the badlands, excavating at a simulated dinosaur quarry, and discovering their dinosaur family in the Dinosaur Identity Game. Both one-day and 7-day sleep-over camps are available. Early registration is recommended. What to bring: Good walking shoes are required. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and clothing suitable for the weather are recommended (sleep-over camp requires additional items). In case of rain, an indoor version will be offered. |

| Dino Adventure Hour |

Is your child a budding palaeontologist, able to pronounce the names of many famous dinosaurs? In this 60-minute program, children aged four to six will travel back in time to discover the life of dinosaurs through crafts, costumes, role-playing and hands-on fossil investigation. Space is limited so register early. |

| 7 Wonders of the Badlands |

This one-hour hike into Midland Provincial Park introduces you to the secrets of this mysterious landscape. Rocks that come alive, trees that tell stories, and volcanic clay that you can eat are just a few of the wonders that you will discover along the trail. In case of rain, the program will be cancelled and refunds issued. |

Don’t worry about the weather! On the Virtual Hike, the conditions are always ideal. In the safety and comfort of the museum, participants will take a 60-minute multi-media journey into the badlands. Experiencing the amazing views of the badlands, learning to identify fossils, and visiting an excavation site are just some of the highlights along the way. |

| Dinosaurs in the Movies |

How have our perceptions of dinosaurs changed over time? In this 30-minute auditorium presentation, a science educator will guide the audience through a series of film clips, from the most primitive animations to modern digital techniques. You will discover how the portrayal of dinosaurs in movies and our scientific understanding of them have evolved together over time. |
